Let the Volunteer Training Begin!

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Well actually, “let the training continue”. Volunteer training for multisites is already happening each week all around the church. If you’re not already serving then NOW is the time to jump in and get trained. Perhaps you’re interested in First Impressions. If so, here is an important message from Mary Ann Sibley:

What an exciting time to be at Hope and being a part of watching God grow us and his Kingdom!

Please read carefully as to which of the following categories you fall into and then please email me ASAP! :

A) You already serve on First Impressions.
You do not need to attend another Orientation. I will be contacting you soon as your additional commitment starting in June!

B) You do NOT currently serve on First Impressions (but are interested):
You will need to attend an Orientation in May. Your choices are:
  1. This Saturday, May 2nd at 5:35pm to 7pm (right after the 1st Service) in Room 2070.
  2. Tuesday, May 5th at 7pm to 8:15pm (Room to be determined)

Please email me ASAP to confirm your registration at ONE of these meetings.

All of our volunteers will serve HERE at the Raleigh Campus every other week for June, July and August. This will allow us to get fully trained and acquainted so that the transition to Morrisville will be a smooth one! We want our guests in Morrisville to be welcomed with the same warmth, efficiency and flow that we have here in Raleigh.

Thank you again for your commitment to this next step both within Hope and also within your own lives!!!

ONLY Because of HIM!
Mary Ann

First Impressions includes all: roadies, greeters, guides, guest services, ushers, gathering place teams, common grounds team, security, medical, and our new “striker” teams which are our worship setup and tear-down teams. If you’re interested in First Impressions please contact Mary Ann immediately and get into one of the upcoming training sessions. Thanks!

What is “It?” From Kevin Woody (Core# 39)

Monday, April 27th, 2009

What’s It? It’s the title of a terrific book by innovative pastor, Craig Groeschel .  He pastors a church of multi-site congregations which make up the church LifeChurch.tv. Craig starts the book with the popular maxim, “You either have It or you don’t.” Explaining It is the major focus of the book.  As a summary, It is about how we learn to participate with, swim in, and come under the direction of the Holy Spirit as we follow Christ and work together to create a group of believers called church.

For me the book has been timely, challenging, and disturbing – in a good way. Craig shares his experience of becoming a Christ follower and attending a church that didn’t have It. He contrasts that experience with a church that did have It. The first church had all the resources of facility and budget; the second church met in a warehouse type facility with a minimal budget.

In thinking about our upcoming Morrisville campus, I know we are now looking at temporarily using Carmike Cinemas. After reading It, God reminds me that where we meet is irrelevant. It’s how we meet that will be important. Our worship, attitude, gratitude and submitting the entire process to God is what counts.  We could set up a parking lot circus tent in winter weather and still enjoy and be transformed by the presence of God. Multi-media and soft seats are not what God requires to meet with us (although they are nice!). What He does desire is for us to gather hoping, expecting, and craving for Him to show up. The process is ultimately about God—not me, not us, not even about Hope Community Church.   It is about what God wants to do in us, for us, and through us.

I hope you will grab a copy of the book and circulate it among other members of the Morrisville campus. Be careful, it’s a dangerous book!

Volunteer Expo THIS WEEKEND at Hope!

Friday, April 24th, 2009

As we know, the four commitments of the core is to:

  1. Pray earnestly
  2. Go joyfully
  3. Serve faithfully
  4. Give generously

This weekend Hope will be hosting a volunteer expo. First Impression, KidsCity, Student Ministry, and Technical Arts will all have booths setup in the church atrium for all services this weekend. If you’re not already serving, here is your opportunity to meet the leaders, investigate multiple opportunities to volunteer and COMMIT to your place of service.

Over 230 adult volunteer positions have been identified for each new campus. To be in the core is to commit to volunteer. We have a rare opportunity to have a summer long orientation at the Raleigh campus.

If you’re already serving GREAT! Keep up the good work! If you’re not already serving, I strongly encourage you to please become trained and start serving NOW. Once we launch the Morrisville campus, this ideal and golden training opportunity will be over. Let’s seize this opportunity with great zeal and commitment.

Please stop by and see the new “Hope Where You Are” booth as well! This booth will remain up until we launch. It will be a central hub for building the core. See ya this weekend!
